G603 White Granite: A Developer’s Guide to Facades, Flooring and Public Plazas

Every material decision on a residential or mixed-use development has to survive two very different reviews. The design team wants a clean, neutral palette that will not look dated in ten years, and the cost committee wants a price per square metre that still looks reasonable after shipping, installation and long-term maintenance. G603 white granite is one of the few natural stones that passes both reviews at the same time, which is why it has remained a default specification for facades, lobbies and public plazas for decades.

What Is G603 White Granite?

G603, traded internationally as Bianco Sardo or Padang Light, is a fine- to medium-grained granite with a stable light-grey background and fine black mineral speckling. Our G603 is quarried in Suizhou, Hubei Province, where Xuhui Stone operates its own quarry and processing lines for both G603 white granite and G682 golden granite. Because the blocks come straight from our own quarry faces, batch selection is controlled from the rock face to the slab rack, and buyers deal with the source rather than a chain of intermediaries.

The tone is the quiet advantage. Light grey sits comfortably next to glass curtain walls, aluminium panels, timber and greenery, which makes G603 an easy material for architects to integrate without dominating the elevation.

Where G603 Performs Best

1. Exterior facade cladding. A light-grey surface absorbs less solar heat than darker granites, which helps exterior wall panels stay visually stable across seasons and keeps the elevation looking clean under strong sun, a real consideration in Gulf and Southeast Asian projects. Panels are typically supplied in 20 to 30 mm thicknesses for dry-hang installation systems, cut to size with the anchor holes and slotting agreed in advance.

2. Interior flooring in high-traffic areas. With a Mohs hardness of around 6, G603 stands up well to lobbies, shopping centres and station concourses. Honed and polished finishes give a bright, even floor that is straightforward to maintain, and because the stone is classified Class A under China’s GB 6566 radioactivity standard, there is no restriction on interior use.

3. Public plazas, pavements and steps. Flamed G603 is a workhorse of urban landscaping: pedestrian squares, pavements, steps, kerbs and pool coping. The flaming process roughens the surface for slip resistance in wet weather, and the stone handles freeze-thaw exposure reliably, which is why it has been exported for years to cold-climate markets.

Technical Values That Matter to Specifiers

Laboratory testing on our G603 blocks and slabs typically returns the following ranges, which consultants can use for early-stage specification:

  • Density: approximately 2.6 to 2.7 g/cm3
  • Compressive strength: 100 to 140 MPa
  • Water absorption: 0.5% or lower
  • Mohs hardness: approximately 6
  • Radioactivity: GB 6566 فئة A

Full test reports can be issued against project requirements, and third-party inspection by SGS or BV is welcome before shipment.

Finish Options Worth Considering

Beyond polished and honed interior finishes, G603 accepts flamed, bush-hammered and sandblasted treatments for exterior work. One practical detail: flaming slightly lightens the surface tone, so for large paving areas we recommend confirming a flamed finish sample together with the polished sample, so the approved golden sample reflects the true delivered appearance.

Why Consistency Is the Real Test for Developers

For most buyers, the biggest risk on a stone specification is not the technical data sheet, it is colour drift between construction phases. A plaza supplied from three different lots can read as three different stones once installed. Working with a quarry-direct supplier reduces that risk at the source: batches are selected and matched at the block stage, photographic batch approval is standard practice, and the approved golden sample is kept on file so every follow-up order is cut against the same reference.

What to Confirm Before You Order

  • Thickness and size tolerances in writing, including slab and cut-to-size dimensions
  • Batch photographs of the actual production lot, not brochure images
  • A golden sample approved and retained by both sides before mass production
  • Packing method for export: foam protection, fumigated wooden crates or bundles
  • Whether third-party inspection before loading is included in the process

Suizhou Xuhui Stone Co., Ltd. supplies G603 white granite and G682 golden granite from its own quarries in Hubei, with slabs, cut-to-size panels, paving and landscape products shipped worldwide. If you are evaluating G603 for a facade, flooring or public-space package, send us your drawings and target quantities, and we will return a quotation with sample photos of the current production batch.
