A municipal streetscape in dark grey granite: flamed paving, bush-hammered kerbs and tactile bands for a pedestrian crossing.

The Challenge
The scheme needed a granite that reads close to black under grey northern light but still holds a slip-resistant flamed surface through winter salt.
Kerbs had to be delivered to a fixed radius for the turning head, with every piece numbered to its position on the drawing.
The Results
We supplied a dark grey granite, flamed for paving and bush-hammered for the kerb faces so both read consistently.
Radius kerbs were cut on a template, dry-laid at the factory to verify the curve and shipped in numbered sequence.
Tactile bands were produced as 30 mm blistered paving and laid as an integral part of the scheme.
