A civic plaza paved in Golden Granite G682: 30 mm flamed paving, bush-hammered steps and a polished feature band that traces the main axis.
The Challenge
The plaza carries heavy foot traffic and full summer sun, so the paving had to stay cool underfoot, slip-resistant when wet and colour-stable across 4,000 m2.
The design also called for a polished accent band cut from the same lot as the flamed paving, which meant the two finishes had to be produced from one block reservation.
The Results
We reserved one block lot for the whole plaza and split it between the flamed paving and the polished accent so the colour never drifted between zones.
Paving was calibrated to a uniform 30 mm, laid on a sand-cement bed with 3 mm joints and delivered in numbered pallets per zone.
Steps and kerbs were cut from the same reservation, with a 20 mm bullnose to match the paving edge exactly.
