Golden Granite Kerbs and Boulevard Steps

A city boulevard project supplied entirely in Golden Granite G682: 1,900 m of kerbs, 340 step treads and matching tree-pit surrounds.

The Challenge

Municipal projects are hard on edges. The city specified that kerbs had to survive mechanical sweeping and occasional vehicle impact without visible chipping.

Matching the existing boulevard stone – installed eight years earlier from a different supplier – was the other condition.

The Results

We matched the original G682 tone by selecting blocks with the same grain direction and producing a flamed finish with a sawn chamfer on the exposed edge.

Kerbs were cut at 1000x250x150 mm and treads at 1200x350x50 mm, each piece inspected individually and rejected for any edge chip over 3 mm.

Delivery was staged over three months to follow the contractor’s section-by-section programme.
